Harrström

Harrström is a small village on the Finnish West coast, about 60 km south of Vasa.

In the late 60's I visited the harbour with fishing boats – of very modest size – and their botahouses.

At that time the boathouses were all covered with roofs made out of straw. I got excited about this and took some photos in B&W.

About 30 years later I rediscovered the place and took a lot of more photos – now in color.

The boathouses are still there, also the modest size fishing boats, but the straw roofs are gone.

A set of these images were exhibited in the local bank facility in Harrström in July 2001.

And in Åbolands Sjukhus in Turku some months later.

PS Occasionally I still go there so the project does not seem to come to an end ...
